Stretch Marks
Stretch marks, or striae, are a form of dermal scarring that occurs when the skin stretches or changes rapidly.
They commonly develop during puberty, pregnancy, significant weight changes or periods of rapid muscle growth.
Initially, stretch marks may appear pink, red or purple before gradually becoming lighter and more silvery.
Although they are harmless, they can be cosmetically noticeable.
Creates controlled micro-injuries and thermal stimulation within the dermis to encourage collagen and elastin remodelling.
Can improve the texture and appearance of selected stretch marks by stimulating dermal regeneration and reducing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
Stimulating collagen in areas of scarring can help with tissue repair and skin quality to reduce the appearance of stretch marks.
Different technologies may be combined depending on whether stretch marks are newer and more vascular or older and more atrophic.
Treatment tends to be more effective when started earlier, particularly while stretch marks are still red or purple.
Older stretch marks can also be treated, although improvement is generally gradual and multiple sessions may be required.
The goal is to reduce contrast and improve texture rather than completely eliminate the stretch marks.
