Hyperpigmentation

Overview

Hyperpigmentation occurs when the skin produces or accumulates excess melanin, resulting in areas that appear darker than the surrounding skin.

It can develop following inflammation, hormonal changes, sun exposure or skin injury.

Pigmentation is particularly common in Asian skin and can be persistent or recurrent, making prevention and maintenance an important part of treatment.

Common Types

What Causes Hyperpigmentation?

Treatment Options

Picosecond laser

Picosecond laser technology can be used to target selected pigmentation concerns and improve overall skin tone.

Topical Skincare

Prescription and medical-grade skincare may be recommended to reduce pigment production and prevent recurrence.

Oral Photoprotection (Oral Sunblock)

Oral antioxidant supplements may complement a comprehensive pigmentation management programme.

Our Approach

Pigmentation often requires a long-term approach rather than a single treatment.

We assess the type and underlying cause of pigmentation before selecting treatment. Sun protection, skincare and maintenance are important to reduce the likelihood of recurrence.
